3” x 24” Grinding Template Strip — Steel

The AC501 is a 3-inch wide by 24-inch long steel template strip for creating moulder knife grinding templates for Weinig Rondamat and pantograph-style profile grinders. Steel template material is significantly more durable than plastic — on high-repeat production profiles where the tracing pin contacts the template through hundreds or thousands of grinding cycles, steel templates maintain dimensional accuracy much longer before wear at the tracing contact point affects the ground knife profile. Steel templates are the preferred choice for production shops that grind the same profiles regularly; once cut and validated, a steel template can be stored and reused indefinitely without the dimensional drift that affects plastic over time. The 3-inch width accommodates the majority of standard architectural moulding profile depths. For larger profiles requiring 4-inch width, see AC5014 (steel) or AC5014P (plastic). For one-off or custom profiles where template fabrication cost matters more than longevity, plastic template material (AC501P) is easier to work.
