The AC818 is a 2-7/8-inch diameter 2-wing corrugated rosette tool holder for slow-RPM rosette cutting machines. Rosette holders are the cutter body that holds the knives on a rosette machine (such as the Schmidt R200) to produce decorative rosette blocks — the square or round corner pieces in architectural door and window casing assemblies. The 2-wing design uses two corrugated steel knives (1/4-inch thick, 16-60-degree corrugation angle) that lock into the holder body via the corrugated back. The AC818 produces the smallest rosette block in the three-holder Schmidt system. Important: rosette holders are designed for slow RPM machines only — do not run at standard shaper or router speeds. The knife geometry and holder design are calibrated for the form-cutting action of a dedicated rosette machine. Straight knives for this holder: CB189. For the medium 3-1/2-inch holder, see AC819. For the large 4-3/4-inch holder, see AC821. An optional #2 Morse taper shank (AC820) is available for machines that index on a Morse taper socket.
