The MH449 is a 4-13/16 in. OD, 9 in. cut length, 1-1/2 in. bore, 4-pocket corrugated back moulder head with 15° hook — the maximum CEL in the MH44x 4-pocket standard series. The 9 in. knife seat in a 4-pocket head represents the apex of this product line’s profile coverage: maximum-height architectural panels, full-depth door stile assemblies, and the widest built-up millwork elements that can be run on a single spindle in a single pass on heavy industrial wide-bed production moulders. Four-knife geometry at 9 in. CEL delivers better surface finish than a 2-pocket head at equivalent CEL, justifying the additional knife weight and balance complexity at this extreme configuration. Safety requirements at 9 in. CEL are non-negotiable: knife sets must be precision weight-matched, the assembled head must be balance-confirmed, safe operating speed must be verified against manufacturer data, and the machine must have appropriate safety guards in place.
