Terminus Carbide Reversible Quick-Change Planer Knife — Double-Edged, 50mm to 616mm

Oak, hard maple, beech and abrasive manufactured board are what carbide knives are in a Terminus head to survive. Carbide holds a working edge through volumes no steel grade reaches, which is what makes it economic on daily production and long unattended runs despite the higher cost per knife. The trade is brittleness: carbide chips where high speed steel would simply dull, so grit, embedded metal and dirty reclaimed stock will end a set early — run the cleaning pass on a steel set and change over once the surface is sound. Every knife is reversible, giving two full cutting edges before replacement, and the change is radial and tool-free: push the spring-loaded gib down, lift the knife, seat the replacement on the self-locating ridge, and the cutting circle returns with no setting, no jointing and no regrinding. Ground to the system’s 14 × 2.55 mm section and cut to length from 50 mm to 616 mm for Terminus™ quick-change planer, jointer and moulder heads. On clean softwood, T1-HSS gives a better finish for a fraction of the cost.
