100 Years of Tooling: CGG Schmidt Debuts New Multi-Profile Cutters at IWF 2026

By Staff Writer August 4, 2026 2 Mins read

This year marks a milestone for Charles G. G. Schmidt & Co.: 100 years in the woodworking tool business. A century of grinding, engineering, and supporting the shops that shape wood across North America — and we’re celebrating the way we know best, by launching new tooling.

Introducing the Multi-Profile Cutter Line

At IWF 2026 in Atlanta, we’re debuting our new line of Multi-Profile cutters, built around two proven ideas: corrugated back backer plates and precision ground carbide inserts.

The corrugated back locks knives into a fixed, repeatable position, so setups are fast and consistent. The carbide inserts hold a precision-ground edge through long production runs, delivering clean, accurate profiles cut after cut.

Designed for Shops That Run Many Profiles

If you’re a custom woodworker, no two jobs look alike — casing today, crown tomorrow, a one-off historic replication next week. The Multi-Profile line was designed for exactly that reality. Instead of dedicating a cutterhead to every profile, one tool platform accepts the inserts you need for the job at hand.

The line is available in multiple diameters and bore sizes to fit the equipment already on your floor, and it’s an excellent choice for moulders and shapers. Versions are also available for CNC routers, so the same approach carries across your whole shop.

See It in Person at IWF 2026

The best way to evaluate tooling is to hold it. Join us at the International Woodworking Fair, August 25–28, 2026, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta — Booth B5516.

Our team will be on hand to talk through your tooling requirements: profiles, diameters, bores, insert options, and how the Multi-Profile line fits your machines. While you’re there, ask for our new catalog — a century of tooling knowledge in one book.

Can’t make it to Atlanta? Explore the full line and request the catalog at www.cggschmidt.com.
