5″ x 6″ Insert Surfacing Head — 4-Wing, Straight Bore

The IN654 pairs a 5 in. diameter with a 6 in. cutting length, surfacing wider solid stock in a single pass on mid-size moulders and planers. Machined from aircraft aluminum, it runs lighter and quieter and draws less horsepower than a comparable steel head. Four wings carry four-sided solid carbide inserts in a staggered, spiral pattern that shears the fibers for a clean face, with 20 effective cutting teeth; the open four-wing design clears chips aggressively for heavier stock removal across the full 6 in. width. Inserts rotate to a fresh edge or replace on the machine, so there is no grinding and no sending knives out. The constant cutting diameter keeps re-setup fast between indexes, and the low cutting pressure lets feed speeds climb. Specify bore size when ordering.
