8” OD x 1/4” Kerf x 1-1/4” Bore 6-Wing Carbide Straight Top Groover

The WC181 is a 6-wing carbide-tipped straight-top groover in the largest standard 8-inch OD format — 1/4-inch kerf width and 1-1/4-inch bore. At 8 inches in diameter, WC181 offers maximum rotational inertia in the straight groover range: the mass of the 8-inch body stabilizes the cut through dense hardwood, minimizes chatter on long straight runs, and maintains a consistent kerf width even when interrupted cuts encounter grain changes or glue joints in the material. Six wings at this diameter provide an excellent cut-per-revolution ratio for a smooth, flat groove floor at 1/4-inch slot width. The 8-inch OD does require a sufficiently powerful shaper to maintain speed under load — confirm your spindle has adequate HP for the 8-inch format before ordering.
