Straight Top Groover — 2″ Width, Pro-Line (1-1/4″ Bore)

Cuts a flat-bottomed 2″ groove — the widest straight top groover Freeborn builds — for wide housings, timber joints and deep rabbets, and does two more jobs besides: run it against the fence to cut a rabbet, or fit a 4″ diameter rub bearing and it becomes a flush trim cutter following a template or a previously worked edge. The straight top grind leaves a square groove with clean corners — nothing is rounded, coved or ogee’d. Freeborn indexes the series by groove width and the trailing SKU number is that width in sixteenths, so 032 is 2″, 024 is 1-1/2″ and 002 is 1/8″. At full width take the cut in stages rather than full depth in one pass, and keep the feed steady — a 2″ cutter carries real load. Pro-Line body: 1-1/4″ bore, 4″ diameter, three wings, counterclockwise, in carbide or T-Alloy — carbide for general production, T-Alloy where abrasive stock or long runs justify the premium.
