Cuts a flat-bottomed 1-1/4″ groove for wide housings, timber joints and deep rabbets, and does two more jobs besides: run it against the fence to cut a rabbet, or fit a 2-15/16″ diameter rub bearing and it becomes a flush trim cutter following a template or a previously worked edge. The straight top grind leaves a square groove with clean corners — nothing is rounded, coved or ogee’d. Freeborn indexes the series by groove width and the trailing SKU number is that width in sixteenths, so 020 is 1-1/4″, 024 is 1-1/2″ and 032 is 2″. At this width, take the cut in stages rather than full depth in one pass, and keep the feed steady — the wider the cutter, the more the spindle feels the load. Mini-Pro body: 3/4″ bore, 2-15/16″ diameter, three wings, counterclockwise, carbide tipped. The Pro-Line counterpart is PC-22-020.
