Schmidt Ship-Lap & Nickel-Gap Insert Cutter Set — Set 704

The Schmidt Ship-Lap & Nickel-Gap Set 704 is a two-piece, aluminum-bodied insert cutter set that mills a matched ship-lap or nickel-gap edge joint. Two cutters on one arbor cut the mating halves of the joint at once, so paired boards seat cleanly straight off the machine. The set runs standard 4-sided reversible carbide inserts — INKS415 (OD) and INKS414 (spur) — at a 5″ minor cutting diameter, and stays quiet and smooth whether run on a shaper or a moulder. Order by spindle bore: 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 40mm, or 1-13/16″. Inexpensive to run and field-serviceable — index or replace an insert instead of regrinding — and the aluminum body accepts additional custom tooling to cut other shapes and profiles.
