Oak, teak, iroko and composite panel stock are what carbide Tersa blades are built to survive. Tungsten carbide holds a working edge through volumes no steel grade reaches, which is what makes it economic for daily production and long unattended runs despite the higher cost per blade. The trade is brittleness: carbide chips where high speed steel would simply dull, so grit, embedded metal and dirty reclaimed stock will end a set early — clean the surface on a cheaper grade first and change over. Tersa codes this grade TC and rates it for hard and composite wood at high performance. The head locks the blade under centrifugal load and releases it at rest, so changes take minutes with no setting or regrinding, and every blade is reversible for two full cutting edges. Ground in Switzerland, cut to length from 50mm to 810mm. On softwood, HSS gives a better finish for a fraction of the cost.
