Resinous softwood with an open cell structure is what HSS Tersa blades are ground for, and it is where they leave a finish that comes off the head without a sanding pass. High speed steel takes a keener initial edge than carbide, and on gummy stock like pine and fir that edge is the difference between a finish-ready board and one that needs the wide-belt. Tersa’s own description calls it the most commonly used blade in the range. The head locks the blade by centrifugal force under load and releases it at rest, so a change takes minutes with no setting gauges, no jointing and no regrinding — and every blade is reversible, giving two full cutting edges before replacement. Ground in Switzerland and cut to length in-house, from 50mm to 810mm, for planers, thicknessers, jointers and moulders. Closed-cell hardwood will pull the edge down early; that is where M+ starts.
